Choral Evensong traces back to Medieval monastic evening prayers and was formalised in the 16th century post reformation Anglican church. It weaves together biblical poetry with the Song of Mary, the Song of Simeon and a psalm, with sung responses in a beautiful service to acknowledge the end of the day. The All Souls Choir will be singing a choral evensong on the 16th August in a 5pm service, and would like to invite you to participate in the service either as a singer or as part of the congregation. There will be two practices on Wednesday nights at 7pm in the preceding two weeks and anyone who would like to sing as part of the choir is welcome. If you would like to sing or would like more information, see Chris Adams.
Each Friday we gather at All Souls at 5:30pm to pray and then eat together. This is a chance to join together and pray for our world, our land, our church, our communities, and each other. Prayer is such an important part of faith, and often easier when done together. Come and join us.
Join us on August 30th after our combined 10am service for a Shared Lunch “Just Like Grandma Used to Make!” Think back to those times when a meal could be made with a potato, a bag of old apples and Gran’s bottle of “God Help Us!” The Challenge is for us to bring a dish of food that cost us no more than $5. Let’s defy the depression and party like its 1945!
Megan will be resurrecting Grandma Marjory Rose’s Stew and Dumplings.
